The application process

This is a three-step process:

  • Applicants successful at longlisting (eligibility testing) will be invited to a full-day assessment centre - written tests of numerical and critical reasoning and a situational judgement (scenario-based) test
  • Assessment centre [date to be confirmed]. Applicants will need to reach a minimum standard at the tests of numeracy and critical reasoning. Applicants passing this standard will then be ranked according to their scores at assessment
  • Applicants at the top end of the ranking for written tests will be invited to a half-day selection centre (face-to-face assessment)  [date to be confirmed]

Candidates wishing to apply should ensure they are available for these dates as alternatives will not be provided.

There will be three placements available in 2012.  This year, Scotland will also be recruiting people from a non-medical background. Two of the three placements will be for people from a medical background and one placement will also be open to people from non-medical backgrounds.

Additional Information

The Postgraduate Dean confirms that these placements and/or programmes have the required educational and Dean's approval.

Right to work in the UK

Doctors who are not UK or EEA nationals and whose immigration status entitles them to work without restriction in the UK will be considered on an equal basis with UK and EEA nationals.

Other non-UK or non-EEA nationals with limited leave to remain in the UK whose employment will require a Work Permit (such as those on student or working holiday visas) are subject to the resident labour market test and may only be considered if there is no suitable UK or EEA national candidate for the post.

Evidence of immigration status should normally consist of a date stamped passport and accompanying letter from the Home Office. Applicants and assessors should visit the
UK Border Agency website for more information.
