FPH Consultation on Revalidation and Specialist Standards
FPH was pleased to hold an online consultation on the standards framework and evidence, the consultation will inform revalidation for public health professionals. The Revalidation Working Group asked for your views to ensure that we develop processes for the revalidation of public health professionals that you, your colleagues and the communities you serve can have confidence in. We are very grateful for your feedback, comments and suggestions.

External Consultations
The FPH has responded to several consultations touching on revalidation and will continue to do so as the process is established and refined.
GMC consultation on revalidation – the way ahead
The GMC released their consultation – Revalidation the Way Ahead on 1 March 2010. FPH, along with all Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties, was invited to the launch event. The consultation will close on 4 June 2010. FPH along with all stakeholders are invited to respond. The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AOMRC) is also issuing a joint response.
Dr George, the administrative team and the Revalidation Working Group welcome the consultation document and its supporting literature. The work of FPH with both the GMC and AoMRC is evident through numerous references to non-clinical working and doctors who do not work with patients, and references to the Faculties who will be appointing their own Responsible Officers.
The draft FPH response has been approved in principle by the Revalidation Working Group and the FPH Executive Committee.
All FPH members are invited to view the consultation on the GMC website and review the draft FPH response. Please send any feedback or comments on this draft response to by Friday, 21 May 2010. The draft will then be sent to the FPH Board for approval before being submitted to the GMC.

Academy of Medical Royal Colleges consultation on Specialist Standards and Supporting Information for Revalidation
The Academy held an open consultation about the specialty frameworks for all medical specialties. This consultation has now ended, but further information can be found on the Academy’s website.
