FPH announces appointment of David Allen as new Chief Executive
The Faculty of Public Health is delighted to announce that David Allen has been appointed as its new Chief Executive.
David is an experienced strategic leader who has worked in the voluntary sector for over 20 years, most recently leading Royal National Institute of Blind People’s (RNIB) work to prevent sight loss across the UK and Europe.
Professor John Ashton said: “We are delighted that David will be taking on this role at such a crucial time for public health. Just as the public health profession’s success is dependent on its ability to work across different sectors, we are pleased that David will be using his voluntary sector experience to help lead and develop the organisation.”
David Allen said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Faculty of Public Health and look forward to working in partnership with our staff, members and partner organisations to continue FPH’s important work. I have a strong commitment to equal access for all and have worked with colleagues from public health to address inequalities in eye care services across the UK, and to meeting and learning from our partners and members.”
David joined RNIB in 1990, and has worked in several management and leadership roles, most recently as Head of Sightloss Prevention, running a UK-wide programme to prevent sight loss, forging national and international partnerships and raising the profile of eye health. David has a degree in Psychology and a post-graduate qualification in management, and recently acted as a Lay Adviser to the Royal College of Ophthalmology.
