FPH outlines principles of public health to Secretary of State
The leaders of the UK's main public health organisations have sent a joint letter to the Rt Hon Andrew Lansley CBE MP saying that the upcoming public health White Paper represents a pivotal chance to develop a public health system that is fit for purpose.
But it warns that there is a danger that implementation of an inappropriate model could irrevocably damage the delivery of public health in the UK.
The letter seeks to draw three principles to the Secretary of State for Health's attention:
* Public health should be independent
* Public health should be adequately resourced
* Effective public health delivery is dependent upon a stable specialist workforce
