FPH welcomes breakthrough in junior doctors’ contract negotiations
The British Medical Association (BMA), NHS Employers and the Department of Health have agreed a new contract for junior doctors, subject to a referendum of relevant BMA members.
Commenting on the announcement, Professor John Ashton, President of the Faculty of Public Health, said: "We welcome this development and are grateful that all sides in this dispute have found common ground. While we have not seen the detail of the agreement, we very much hope that it is one that all junior doctors, including our members, can support.
"FPH is very pleased that it looks likely that the situation can be resolved without the need to impose a contract. We hope that the new contract will help enable the public health workforce, as it continues to protect and improve people’s health, to respond to public health emergencies as well as play its part in the effective planning of health services."
