Who is eligible for Honorary Membership? (HonMFPH)
Each year there is a round of proposals in which current fellows of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) are invited to nominate non-members for Honorary Membership.
On the recommendation of the Board, the Faculty in General Meeting, may bestow Honorary Membership on persons in recognition of their service to FPH or their contribution to the science, literature or practice of public health. Individuals must be proposed by at least two fellows.
Candidates for Honorary Membership will not be FPH members or previously have been FPH members in any category, nor be on a specialist register in public health.
Candidates for whom these procedures would be appropriate include:
- those who have rendered a major service or have made major contribution(s) to FPH
- those who are not active in public health practice but whose work involves a major contribution to the discipline
- academics who make a major contribution to public health teaching or examinations.
From the date of admission Honorary Members are entitled to use the designation HonMFPH.
