Classes of membership

There are a number of different classes of membership which vary according to an individual's level of training, experience or contribution to the field of public health.

The first of these categories is Specialist Registrar/Specialist Trainee/Specialty Registrar Membership, available only to those currently on a recognised specialty training shceme.

On completion of the Faculty's Part A MFPH examination an individual may progress to Diplomate Membership, and will become a full Member (MFPH) on completing the Part B/OSPHE MFPH examination.

Fellowship (FFPH) is awarded once an individual completes their specialist training and is accepted onto a specialist register in public health – usually the GMC Specialist Register or the UK Voluntary Register for Public Health Specialists (UKVRPHS).

Although the principal route to Membership and subsequently Fellowship is by passing the Faculty's membership examinations (Membership by examination) and gaining specialist registration in public health following completion of higher specialist training (Fellowship via membership), there are a number of alternative routes. The Associate / Corporate Associate category

This subscription category is for individuals or organisations who wish to receive regular information on the specialty, but who either do not wish to, or are not eligible to, become members.

Those who pay subscriptions for the Associate Category receive regular mailings and electronic communications. They do not however, have the right to take part in Faculty elections, or stand for Faculty committees or for office.
