Diplomate Membership
Who is eligible for Diplomate Membership?
Diplomate Membership is available to those who have passed the Part A of the Membership examination (formerly the Diploma and Part I Membership Examination) or the Faculty Diploma of Epidemiology (no longer held). Diplomate Members need not be enrolled in higher specialist training.
From the date of admission, Diplomate Members are entitled to use the designation DFPH.
Diplomate Membership by exemption
Candidates who have passed Part I of the Examination for Membership of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland may claim exemption from Part A of the MFPH examination.
However, they will still need to complete the Part B of the Faculty's examination to be eligible for full Membership.
For further information on applying for an exemption from the Part A exam, please see the Exams section of the website.
The application process
From June 2008, successful candidates in the Part A examination will automatically be considered for election to Diplomate Membership. Once their election has been approved by the Faculty Board, they will be contacted by the Membership Admissions Administrator and offered Diplomate Membership of the Faculty.
If you passed the Part A (formerly the Diploma and Part I Membership Examination) or the Faculty Diploma of Epidemiology before June 2008, but did not apply for Diplomate Membership at the time, you can still do so by contacting the Education & Training Department directly – educ@fph.org.uk
If you sat your Diploma and Part I Membership Examination or the Faculty Diploma of Epidemiology prior to 1999, you will need to provide your original documents (pass letter and certificate).
