Patient Safety Research
shaping the European agenda

24-26 September 2007: Porto, Portugal

 A major international conference focusing on the future of patient safety research in Europe . The conference provided a scientific forum to:

  • Describe current research in patient safety and allied fields
  • Demonstrate for policy makers where evidence from research informs policy
  • Build proposals for future research and a Europe-wide research agenda
  • Create international collaborative research networks

The conference has enabled participation of researchers and policy-makers from European and European neighbouring countries (including Eastern Europe, Balkans and Mediterranean ) and the wider world.

The programme, over three days, explored existing research activity in Europe , and contributed to future research, using events including table discussions, science workshops, discussion of posters and plenary sessions. The conference has promoted dialogue between researchers and policy-makers and developed proposals for further action.
