Smokefree Action website launched

The campaign pages of the Smokefree Action website have now gone live. The coalition is currently campaigning on the tobacco control measures in the Health Bill, which contain bold new measures to put tobacco out of sight to protect children from tobacco industry marketing.

Since the implementation of the law banning smoking in workplaces and enclosed public places, most adults no longer have to breathe other people's tobacco smoke. But children receive little protection. In fact, around five million children in UK households are regularly exposed to the harmful toxins in secondhand smoke.

To help raise awareness, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) and ASH have published several documents.

Beyond 'Smoking Kills'

A new report published by Action on Smoking & Health (ASH) endorsed by FPH calls on the Government to introduce tough new measures to protect children and reduce inequalities.

The report, Beyond ‘Smoking Kills’: protecting children, reducing inequalities, is a landmark publication reflecting on 10 years of progress since the launch of the first ever Government white paper on smoking and recommending a comprehensive plan for the next 10 years.
