John Ashton

From the President - Professor John Ashton CBE

"If you share my passion for public health and the significance of its contribution to the human condition, you may feel moved to donate to the further development of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) as it embarks on the next stage of its journey.

"Our ambitions include extending our reach and influence locally and globally, extending our membership base and moving towards college status.

"FPH has contributed greatly to improving people's health and wellbeing since its inception, proudly impacting on many fronts including increasing life expectancy, reducing infant mortality and tackling infectious diseases. In recent years FPH was instrumental in the UK government's adoption of smoke-free legislation and to the implementation of health warnings on cigarette packaging; amongst our current activities is a campaign for government action to alleviate food poverty in the UK. But there is much more to be done. Non-communicable disease, inequalities, mental health – all require a concerted public health response, nationally and globally. Your support will help FPH and our members continue working towards achieving our vision of 'Better Health for All'."
