Quality Assurance of Training
The responsibility of the approval of training programmes and posts resides with the Postgraduate Medical Education & Training Board (PMETB).
PMETB visits are deanery wide and a group of specialties are inspected on each visit. Every specialty is visited every five years.
Through Faculty Liaison Contact Meetings (FLCM) the Faculty continues to make regular contact with training programmes to look at the way training is being organised and to support programmes where possible.
This assists the Faculty in:
- identifying and sharing good practice;
- raising issues and concerns specific to the specialty with PMETB;
- enabling the formal visiting process to to meet specific requirements of public health training;
- enabling the Faculty to advise PMETB about the need for a triggered visit.
