Violence prevention toolkit launched

A policy toolkit has been designed that focuses on preventing violence at the earliest possible stages in the life course.

The Preventing Violence, Promoting Peace policy toolkit examines all forms of violence between individuals or groups. It brings together epidemiology, risk factors and other evidence to identify common approaches to the prevention of interpersonal, collective and extremist violence.

Produced jointly by the Commonwealth and Public Health Wales to support the Commonwealth’s Peace Building theme for 2017, the document adopts a public health approach.

Recommendations address tackling drivers of violence at all levels from global and societal (eg. poverty, corruption, inequalities and population displacement) to personal vulnerabilities arising from damaging individual and community relationships (eg. violent childhoods and social isolation) as well as interactions between these levels.
