Photo competition: terms and conditions

  • The competition is open to everyone; FPH members and non-members alike as well as amateur and professional photographers in the UK and around the world

  • There are no age restrictions for entrants

  • The competition is not open to FPH staff or their immediate family

  • Entrants may submit 5 photographs each. If entrants submit more than that, only their first five submissions will be considered.

  • All entrants must complete the online form

  • There are no ‘themes’ required

  • Photographs must be digital and should be submitted without a watermark

  • All relevant subject consent must be obtained for use of the photographs for publication and exhibition where possible. Any exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. In all cases of persons under 18 years of age, parental/guardian consent must be obtained.

  • You retain the copyright to your work as the photographer. However, by submitting it as an entry to the competition, you grant FPH an unrestricted, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish your photograph both in electronic format and hard copy, and to use your name to identify you as the photographer. This will include the use of your photo/s being used to promote the competition while it's open.

  • The deadline for submission is Friday 19 October 2018 at 23:59

  • FPH reserves the right to reasonably change these terms and conditions as necessary and without notice

  • Each competitor can submit up to five photos each taken on any kind of device, including a digital camera, phone or tablet but each photo must be entered separately with the corresponding form filled in via our website

  • To enter the competition, as well as submitting a photo you must also complete the whole entry form which includes:

    • Image title

    • Image description

    • The story behind the image

  • The prizes are as follows:

    • The first prize winner, as voted for by FPH members, will win £250 (or the equivalent in another currency if you live outside the UK) and a year's free membership at FPH at whichever level the winner qualifies for.
    • The second and third 'highly commended' winners as voted for by FPH members, will win £100 (or the equivalent in another currency if you live outside the UK) and a year's free Associate membership worth £51. If you're already a member of FPH, this value will be deducted from your membership fees.
