Pacific Special Interest Group

The Faculty of Public Health's Pacific Special Interest Group (SIG) has been established to strengthen communication and relationships with Pacific Island countries through local and regional colleagues, especially FPH members. We would see FPH’s experience in training and education of particular use in:

  • Supporting the development of the Pacific public health workforce, in particular those areas where the FPH experience might be relevant and applicable, eg. specialist training. This can include sharing training experiences between UK and the Pacific
  • Through such specialist training, and with local and regional partners, support the development of public health leadership in the Pacific so that governments and communities can better respond to the pandemic of non-communicable disease and its impact on the development of Pacific Island nations and communities
  • Promote the communication and application of Pacific public health research and learning from practice to relevant communities in the UK and vice versa.
