Dementia, (gendered) relationships and care

19th May 2025, 12:00pm - 1:00pm , Online

The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) and the University of Staffordshire’s Centre for Health and Development (CHAD) are delighted to invite you to this webinar with Dr Ed Tolhurst, Associate Professor in Dementia, Ageing and Care at the University of Staffordshire.

In this webinar, Ed will discuss his research on dementia, which aims to seek a balanced relational perspective that addresses people with dementia, carers, and relationships. As Ed explains, there is often more than one vulnerable person in a care relationship: it is therefore vital to avoid advancing one vantage point to the exclusion of the other. When addressing this challenge, it is also crucial that the gendered basis of illness and care is recognised.

This one hour-session will include:

  • Chair's welcome
  • Expert presentation – Dementia, (gendered) relationships and care. Dr Ed Tolhurst, Associate Professor in Dementia, Ageing and Care, University of Staffordshire.
  • Q&A
  • Chair's concluding remarks

For queries, please contact Fiona McCormack (fiona.mccormack@staffs.ac.uk).
