Applying ethical reasoning in public health practice is a core skill that sits alongside and underpins others, such as appraising and applying scientific evidence, economic analysis, leadership, partnership working and collaboration, and communication.
In order to develop relevant and meaningful ethics support to all members, FPH's Public Health Ethics SIG and Ethics Committee will be holding an inaugural forum and guided listening session.
The open session is for members to identify the ethics and equity issues and moral dilemmas they currently face and see on the horizon in their professional practice, at all levels. The second part of the session will explore moral distress and injury among members, which is often related to moral dilemmas in work.
The session will be informal, and no familiarity with academic ethics is needed. We are confident members intuitively can see and feel an ethics problem. The discussion will directly inform educational and speaker programming of the SIG, curriculum review, and more.
The session will be conducted under Chatham House Rule (information used, no attribution).
