Disabled people make up 24% of the UK population but are often overlooked in designing the built environment, with only 13% of housing in England having basic access features. Too often, they are denied the building blocks of health: safe housing and the ability to move around their neighbourhood. Tackling this is vital to ensure everyone has the chance to live a long, healthy life.
This webinar will showcase innovative work in transport and urban planning that includes disabled people in shaping urban spaces and systems. It will demonstrate how partnering with disabled people and centring lived experience is key to meaningful, lasting change. The webinar is a collaboration between the Equality, Inclusion and Diversity and Healthy Places SIGs.
