Public Health CESR Workshop

This workshop is organised by FPH for those doctors who intend, or are in the process of, submitting a GMC Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) application in Public Health for entry to the Specialist Register. The session will provide an understanding of the process of application and how to prepare a successful submission.

CESR is a process by which doctors who have not trained in an approved programme can demonstrate their knowledge, skills and experience are equivalent to that of the relevant CCT curriculum to join the GP or Specialist registers. To be eligible to apply in a CCT specialty applicants must have either a specialist qualification in the specialty they are applying in or at least six months continuous specialist training in the specialty they are applying in

  • the application process from the GMC's specialist applications team
  • the guidance on supporting evidence from FPH Director of Training

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop delegates will

  • Familiarise themselves with the Application Process
  • Receive guidance and practical tips on completing the application process including the types of required documentation
  • Gain understanding of common reasons for unsuccessful applications and how to overcome them
