The Role of Enforcement in Tobacco Control

2nd December 2025, 2:00pm - 3:00pm, Online

The Faculty of Public Health's Smoking and Vaping Special Interest Group invites members to join this webinar with a focus on the role of enforcement, illustrated in the context of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill. The Tobacco and Vapes Bill currently passing through the House of Lords presents a historical opportunity to prevent the legal sale of tobacco products to the next generation, and curb youth vaping.

In this session, two guest speakers will discuss the role of enforcement, associated key challenges (especially around tobacco industry tactics and illicit tobacco), and will end with a call to action around how members can support enforcement colleagues with their vital work.

Guest speakers

  • Kate Pike, Lead Officer for tobacco and vaping for the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, and co-ordinator for Trading Standards North West.
  • Catherine Taylor, Regulation manager for the FRESH regional tobacco control programme in North East England, and co-ordinator for the multi-agency national Illicit Tobacco Partnership.
