You're invited: Global Health Policy Side event on Africa & Global Public Health & Primary Health Care.
Prioritizing Public Health and Revitalizing Primary Health Care for Health Equity with Health Systems Strengthening.
The African and global health community stands at a critical juncture. Implementation of the WHO-14 GPW 2025-2028 is slow, and progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC), and SDG 3 targets and goals by 2030 has stalled or reversed across the majority of WHO member states, especially in the African sub-regions.
A central driver of this regression is the chronic underfunding of Public Health Protection, promotion, and prevention and vital Primary Health Care (PHC): domestic health budgets remain well below the Abuja Declaration target of 15% of national budgets, out-of-pocket expenditure continues to push millions into poverty, and the rapid decline in international health and development financing has further destabilized community-based PHC services and district health systems.
To register for this event, you must already be registered to enter the UN Palais for the World Health Assembly.
