The Faculty of Public Health has signed a Collaboration Agreement with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to support WHO in strengthening the capacity of national health systems to effectively deliver the essential functions of a public health system.
This Agreement follows from work delivered between WHO, the Faculty of Public Health, and other global partners since 2022 to develop and publish a Roadmap for strengthening national workforce capacity to implement essential public health functions, including emergency preparedness and response.
The next phase of this work, as outlined in the new Collaboration Agreement, is to provide support to WHO to operationalise its 5-year vision and action plan within the Roadmap, including;
- Defining the essential functions of a public health system
- Strengthening competency-based education of the global public health workforce
- Mapping and measurement of occupations and workforce
Over the next five years, the Faculty will prepare a roster of technical advisers to work with WHO and its Member States on delivery of the action plan and specific workplans defined in country to strengthen national health systems in their ability to deliver essential public health functions.
The Faculty is currently recruiting for two Specialty Registrars to support this work alongside FPH’s Global Health Lead for Standards and FPH’s Global Health Lead for Workforce. To find out more about these roles and apply you can visit the Faculty website.
