Following today’s Annual General Meeting of the Faculty of Public Health, Professor Tracy Daszkiewicz begins her three-year term of office as President.
Professor Daszkiewicz takes up office after serving as Vice-President of the Faculty since 2022, bringing cross-system leadership experience from roles in the civil service, NHS, local government, and the voluntary sector.
Currently serving as Executive Director of Public Health and Strategic Partnerships at the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in Wales, she is also a Visiting Professor at the University of West of England in the School of Health and Applied Sciences, where she also holds an Honorary Doctorate for her contribution to Public Health.
FPH President Professor Tracy Daszkiewicz said:
“I am deeply grateful and privileged to take up the role of President of the Faculty of Public Health, and am honoured by the trust and confidence Faculty members have placed in me.
“I step into this role, alongside Vice-President Dr. Zafar Iqbal, at a challenging time for public health. Across the four nations of the UK and beyond we are confronting increasingly complex and interconnected issues including persistent and widening health inequalities, an ever-deepening climate crisis, global conflict, racism, declining public mental health, and a rising tide of non-communicable disease.
“We must strive to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to the resources they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
“And our commitment to fairness must extend to our dedicated public health workforce. Ensuring that our public health family are equipped, supported, and valued is essential for achieving our shared goals. That means championing workforce wellbeing, advocating for parity of esteem, and ensuring we have a thriving, diverse, and properly supported workforce, one that is equipped to meet today’s needs and prepared for the big public health challenges of the future.
“Over the next three years, I look forward to working alongside Faculty members to deliver our shared priorities, strengthening the public health workforce and system, advocating for sound public health policy, and supporting work to tackle the root causes of health inequalities.”
