Public health skills and knowledge framework

The Public health skills and knowledge framework (PHSKF) has been revised following extensive consultation with the public health workforce and collaboration between lead agencies across the UK. The revised framework aims to reflect the current public health landscape, ensuring the public health workforce continues to develop the skills and competencies needed both now and in future.

The framework is accompanied by a user guide, explaining how it can be used by individuals, employers and educational providers working in public health.

Individuals and organisations can share their experience of applying the framework by emailing sp-phskf@phe.gov.uk

Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework Evaluation

A survey is currently being conducted for Public Health England on behalf of the four UK nations of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If you have used or looked at the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework (PHSKF), please take the time to fill out the survey here.

The aim of the survey is to evaluate Public Health England’s redesigned 2016 PHSKF to determine its impact on the public health workforce and their employers, and its utility.

The deadline for submission of survey is 22nd February 2019.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.
