Join us for the launch of the new Healthy Ageing Special Interest Group.
As population ageing accelerates, healthy ageing – that is, both future generations reaching older age in better health, and older people living well for longer – has become one of the leading public health challenges of our time.
The Healthy Ageing SIG aims to bring together public health professionals working across the healthy ageing agenda, spanning health improvement, healthcare public health, health protection, and academic public health. The SIG will provide a forum to share learning and challenges, foster collaboration, and contribute a strong public health voice to UK healthy ageing policy debates.
This launch event explores the question: What is the role of the public health profession in the healthy ageing agenda? The programme will feature a keynote address from Professor Sir Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England, followed by reflections, insights, and a Q&A with an expert panel including Professor Sir Muir Gray, FPH Vice‑President Dr Zafar Iqbal, and Professor Elizabeth Orton.
Following the launch, a series of interactive workshops will take place over the coming months, enabling prospective members to help shape the SIG’s priorities and future work.
