Join us for the launch event of the new Healthy Ageing Special Interest Group.
As population ageing accelerates, healthy ageing - that is both future generations reaching older age in better health, and older people living well for longer - is a leading public health challenge of our time. The new Healthy Ageing SIG seeks to provide a network that brings together public health professionals working on all aspects of the emerging healthy ageing agenda (spanning health improvement, healthcare public health, health protection, and academic public health) to share learning and challenges, and to act as a strong public health voice in UK healthy ageing policy debates.
This launch event ‘What is the role of the Public Health profession in the healthy ageing agenda?’ will include a keynote address from Professor Sir Chris Whitty - Chief Medical Officer for England; followed by reflections, insights, and a Q&A with an expert panel including Professor Sir Muir Gray, Professor Peter Kelly - Regional Director of Public Health North East and Yorkshire, Dr Zafar Iqbal - FPH Vice-President , Professor Elizabeth Orton, and Dr Shona Arora - UKHSA Chief Medical Advisor.
Following the launch event, a series of interactive workshops will be convened in the coming months to enable prospective members to help us shape the SIG’s vital work.
